Abusing My Ankle

Dang it! I tweaked my right ankle today and it’s very tender right now. I’ve already iced it three times and so far getting only temporary relief. It doesn’t hurt like it did when I tore the tendon last October but the pain is in the area where it happened. I hope it’s not the beginnings of a tear. I felt pretty happy when I woke up this morning without any pain in that area but about 45 minutes into a 50 minute run I started to feel like the ankle was being struck by a hammer. I had to limp back home and couldn’t wait to take my shoes off so I can ice the area. At this moment I don’t know if the ankle can even handle a one mile run, much less the 16 miler that’s on the schedule for Saturday. I’ll have to baby the ankle and see how it feels tomorrow and when I wake up on Saturday morning. Terribly disappointing. It might take some miraculous intervention for me to recover so I can make it to Saturday’s run. PTTD (Posterior Tibialis Tendon Disorder) is literally a huge pain in the ankle. It’s the worst running injury that I’ve ever experienced because it doesn’t heal at all and can only get worse. Like the chiropractor said a few weeks ago, you can only try to prolong your running. Have I reached the end of my running life? I pray and hope not yet.

Perhaps you need to accept the inevitable, quit running and rest that ankle. One thing you can't quit ... your blog.

Jasmine, I'm trying my best to delay the inevitable. Runners are such stubborn people about their sport. The only running I may have to do in the future is running my fingers across the computer keyboard, if I can find the material.

Fides: Wow Noel better take care of it ♥

Tisa: araay......

Soraya: You have to be very careful, noel...You have to elevate your legs most often , esp the injured one...apply warm compress and take a mild pain reliever ( over the counter lang )...if it persist. CONSULT A DOCTOR! Don't just take it for granted.I think you have to stop your running for a while, Take care!

Jun: sabi na nga ba, not too much. take care, noel.

Noel: Thanks for the advice Soraya and Jun. I did a 9.25 mile walk today, so no running at all.

Tisa: HAY ( NA ) KO AT LAST NOEL IS LISTENING AND JUST DID WALKING. WHAT A RELIEF TO HEAR THAT!

Noel: Hi Tisa, that was only because I didn't feel that I could run without making my ankle worse, so I decided to err on the side of caution. In the past, I would have run anyway and to heck with the pain and damage, but I was much younger then, hahaha!

Tisa: coming face to face w reality is such a humbling thing Noel, I guess it is your choice to ruin your ankle or make it better for the future. Am glad Noel you made the choice & I hope things will get better for you. Ingatz
