My Addiction

Twenty one years and eight days. Let me tell you the magnitude of my addiction. Not to drugs, but from the high I get from running. Twenty one years and eight days, like that song from the play/movie “Rent”: 525,600 minutes, 525,000 moments so dear. Every one of those days was so dear to me because it was that long that I ran every day before injuries forced me to stop. From 1986 until it ended in 2007 running was an everyday habit that I couldn’t live without. I didn’t know how it felt not to run. So if I say I get withdrawal symptoms similar to drug addiction, then you’ll understand why. Because my body misses it.

Here is the story on how it ended: http://noeldlp.blogspot.com/2009/01/end-of-streak.html
